Colleen Anne Labelle, 64, passed on January 29th, 2023. Her love for those around her, those she knew and those she didn’t was boundless and while she left too soon, she left surround by all that love in equal measure.
Colleen was born to Olive and Thomas Doyle, October 29th, 1958. She learned to fight for what’s right and protect those she loved as she came up in Kingston Mills with her brothers Randy, Ronnie, Rusty, Rick, and Rob and her sister Trish. Colleen married and divorced, travelled the world, and raised her son, Levi, while balancing a rich life of friends, careers and so many adventures. She lead whole lives in Kingston, Lahr Germany and even in Winnipeg where she followed her mother to look after her in her final years as Olive had done for her mother before her. Colleen lived the last of her years in Kingston tirelessly working to feed and uplift people experiencing homelessness but also reconnecting with those she loved from her past.
To some, Colleen was the “Dragon Lady,” who fiercely protected people from injustices. To others she was “Momma” guiding them to what is right. To all of us she was a living angel who selflessly gave everything she had to make sure no one went without.
Colleen was pre-deceased by her parents and brothers Randy and Rusty. And though she leaves behind her loving son, brothers and sister, niece and nephews, and so many “children” who adopted her as their extra parent, she also leaves behind a legacy of caring, compassion, and commitment to helping others that we will share stories about forever.
Colleen did not want a service or fanfare in her passing. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Our Livable Solutions, the tiny homes project making homes for Kingston’s homeless that meant so much to her.
