Obituary for Eric Carl Cooney
Eric Carl Cooney 74 years old of Inverary ON passed away on Saturday June 10, 2023, at Kingston General Hospital after a struggle with cancer surrounded by family.
Eric was born April 22, 1949, to loving parents Hilliard and Ruth Cooney and is survived by daughter Sherri Vanhooser and son Wayne and wife Ann Cooney, granddaughters Amanda, (husband Wayne Burke), Alexis, Victoria, Madison, great grandson Lincoln Burke, siblings Gary Cooney, Linda Moore, and Susan Cooney.
Eric was a devoted Shriner and loved driving his firetruck in as many Santa Claus parades as possible. He was a dedicated and proud truck driver priding himself on driving a million plus miles accident free. Eric had an extensive knowledge and passion for civil war history, playing golf and loved watching westerns and baseball with Bonnie but his greatest passion other than being a silly and loving grandfather was his love of music especially The King Elvis Presley and I am sure he is dancing and singing as he is now reunited with the many loved family members and friends that left before him. A celebration of Erics life will be celebrated at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club on Saturday July 29th from 12 to 4 pm.
