Obituary for Margaret Axelson (Conklin)
Surrounded by her family and loved ones - Margaret Jean Axelson (Conklin) passed peacefully on September 22, 2022 after her brave battle with cancer.
Margaret was born April 22, 1949 to Robert and Jean Conklin in Ottawa, ON. She went on to graduate from Toronto Western Nursing School and helped many people in her 40+ year career as a nurse. A beloved caregiver, colleague and professional, we are so proud of the work that she did each day.
She will be deeply missed by her children (Sarah Boye and Steven Axelson), her sisters (Nancy Flynn and Catherine Conklin), her grandchildren (Otis, Nigel and Miles Boye) as well as her beloved nieces, nephews and extended family.
Margaret cared very deeply for her three grandsons who were the light of her life. She loved to spend time with them, watching them play sports or just having them hang out with Nana. The boys loved her greatly, making sure to bring her lottery tickets and sneaking her candy while she was in hospital.
Marg was an angel with a sharp wit and boundless sense of humour & she kept everyone laughing right up until she passed.
There will not be a formal funeral service, however, the family will be holding a celebration of life to remember Margaret in the coming months.
If you are interested in making a donation- the family has set up a memorial scholarship fund in Margaret's name with the Registered Nurses' Foundation of Ontario.
The funds will go to help support another amazing nurse on her journey in medicine to help others.
