Mariusz de Georgel, born October 23rd, 1952, to Regina and Eugeniusz de Georgel in Bystrzyca Kłodzka, Poland passed away on April 24, 2022, at the age of 69 in his home in Coe Hill, Ontario, Canada. Mariusz leaves behind his daughter Daniela Klicper of Goderich, Ontario, Canada, and relatives in Poland.
His family moved to Koszalin, Poland where he attended St. Dubois Highschool and then obtained his Bachelor of Electrical Material Sciences from the University of Engineering in Koszalin in 1976 (WSI - Wyzsza Szkola Inzynierska). After graduation, he worked in an electronics company, the Polish Military and then moved to Athens, Greece. Mariusz immigrated to Canada in 1986, where he continued his career as an electronics engineer, research, and development technology specialist. He worked, among others at Teknoscan Systems Inc, and Litton/ L3 Systems. Privately, he was an active amateur radio member (silent key- xSP1ETC and VE3PND), guitar player, along with a lover of the natural world. He spent countless hours fishing and enjoying the sounds of nature, exposing his daughter to the wonders of the natural world.
Those who knew Mariusz remember his passion for electronics and material sciences. Mariusz was fascinated by telegraphy (Morse Code) and this fascination inspired enthusiasm in friends to constantly improve the speed of sending and receiving communications. Highly regarded by his colleagues and friends, Mariusz valued honesty and respect in life. Mariusz was there to listen and offer advice with his witty humor accompanying him along the way.
Mariusz is deeply missed by family and friends, and forever in our thoughts and hearts. A mass at St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish and celebration of life at the John Paul II Polish Cultural Centre in Mississauga will occur in June 2022 to honor Mariusz.
Rest well, Mariusz.
