Obituary for Mary "Janet" Jackson
Jackson, Mary Janet (nee Ellerbeck)
May 31, 1931 – January 23, 2023
Janet passed away peacefully in her 92nd year on Monday January 23rd at the Bayshore Transitional Care Unit located in the Windsor Retirement Residence in Amherstview, Ontario. Devoted wife of the late Ken Jackson and step-mother to Kathy, Cheryl Murphy (Dan), Laurie Barrett (late Vince) and Greg (Helen Cutts.) Fondly remembered by grandchildren Matthew, Scott, Christopher and Catherine Barrett, Jessica Hutchings, Danielle Cabana (Tyler), Thomas (Fiona) and Brent Jackson, as well as six great-grandchildren. Survived by her sister Doris Eves (late Roy) and her brother Clare (Beryl) and numerous nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her parents Russell and Martha Ellerbeck (nee Arthur) and her sister Eunice Smith (late Don) and brother Jim (late Virginia).
Janet was an avid card player and thoroughly enjoyed playing cards, scrabble and other board games with family and her friends at the condo. Travel was another passion although, sadly, her last travels of note were in 2015 when she toured Ireland with her son, daughter-in-law and eldest daughter. At least she got to cross visiting the Emerald Isle off ‘her bucket list’!
The family wishes to thank Bayshore Transitional Care Unit and the Windsor Retirement Residence for their ongoing support and compassionate care of Janet over the past couple of years.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery will occur in the coming weeks. A small remembrance gathering for family and close friends will be scheduled at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Janet’s memory can be made to the Boys and Girls Club or to a local charity of your choice.
