Obituary for Rita Anita Polson

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of "Rita Anita Polson” on Monday, April 24 2023, at the age 76. Long time partner of Wayne Kelly. Dearly beloved mother of Brenda (Donnie), Beverly (Kevin), Joshua (Aynsley). Cherished Nanny of Melissa (Jeremy), Late Gregg, Cheyeanne, Melody (Trevor), Matthew, Katelyn (Cody), Colton (Sophia) River and Willow. And great Nanny of Cieanna (Zach), Jordyn, Addison, Lyric, Briar, Crue, Harvey, Bennett. Survived by siblings Frank, Gordon and Clare. Predeceased by parents Walter Polson and Florence Mathias and siblings: Lawrence, Clifford, Doreen, Earl and Ronnie. Will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Rita held different jobs over the years but her best years were when she was a Health Care Aid and taking care of the Elders. She enjoyed, playing the guitar, singing, camping, campfires, walks by the lake, and spending time with her loving family. Rita had a big heart and the most beautiful smile. She was sometimes a private and quiet person, but also very witty and fun! She was fearless and independent, yet sensitive. She was strong-willed and stubborn, but those traits didn't define her, as they were part of who she was, and her strength helped her deal with life's challenges.

She looked forward to visits from her kids and grandkids and instilled in them a love for Indigenous culture which she was passionate about. She always took an active role in their lives by guiding them and always sharing advice on life skills. She taught most of the grandchildren to drive which she herself was bad at.. LOL, but she never turned down a good road trip. She had an amazing memory and told entertaining stories, sometimes with a bit of exaggeration but funny nonetheless.

Rita was a strong fighter but she is now in the spirit world, on a journey that we cannot see. We know that she is free from pain and is peacefully enjoying her new place where she will forever be watching over all of us.. and for that we will are eternally grateful.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled in Spring of 2023. You are welcome to make a donation to:
