Electrical Engineering
With deep sadness, we announce that Sid, Professor Emeritus, Queen’s University, passed away December 2, 2022 at age 92 after a short illness.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann (Tanovich); daughter, Anne Rees (Paul); son, Christopher (Gloria); step-daughter, Sheryl Mangov (Steve); grandchildren: Jason, Jennifer, Jonathon, Nicholas and Eric; and three great-grandchildren.
Sid had a long and varied career, including Chief Engineer of a radio station in Brockville; Scientific Service Officer at the Defence Research Board in Ottawa; a founding director of the Canadian Microtel Electronics Corporation; and Associate Dean of Applied Science at Queen’s University. After retirement from Queen’s, he worked at Calian Advanced Technologies at Royal Military College in the Department of Civil Engineering, until early in 2022. Sid enjoyed photography, camping and travelling. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
In keeping with Sid’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family wishes to thank the staff at KHSC Neurosurgery and Providence Care Hospital for their kindness and compassion. If you wish, a donation to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation in his honour would be appreciated.
