Obituary for Steven Charles Oliver

OLIVER - STEVEN CHARLES - February 24, 1957 - May 24, 2022

Steven Oliver passed away peacefully at Napanee Hospital on May 24, 2022 at the age of 65 years. Predeceased by parents Reginald and Lottie Oliver, Steve leaves behind his wife and best friend of 32 years, Sylvie, son Thomas (Sophia Fincham) and daughter Melissa (Ryan Moulton). A family man through and through, always putting family needs before his own, showing what a true husband, father, and friend is. Steve was a very proud and beloved Grandpa to his grandchildren, Preston and Taylor. He loved spending as much time as possible with them. His greatest pleasure was going to watch Tom and the kids play hockey. His enthusiasm for the sport really rubbed off on them.

Another passion of his, motorcycles. A Harley man, you could often find him out on his bike, riding and enjoying life to the fullest. Whether he was alone on his Harley, or with Sylvie or Melissa, he always took the time to get out to ride the open road. He loved to show up and surprise Preston and Taylor on his bike. They loved their grandpa’s motorcycle.

Steve was the love of Sylvie’s life and they shared two children together. Tom and Melissa were his greatest accomplishments. Steve loved his chats with them about anything and everything, especially about their lives and hockey. He was the Oliver family’s rock and was always there for anything they needed.

Steve will be missed by many. Loving, caring, strong, and enduring. Enjoy the ride up in the sky! Until we meet again, we will always love you!

A special thank you to all of the wonderful healthcare workers, especially the nurses and respiratory therapists, over the years for the care they provided for Steve. Thank you to Medigas and their staff for always making sure he had what he needed at home to keep him healthy. Another thank you to the staff who cared for Steve at the Napanee hospital. In lieu of flowers, we humbly request that donations be directed to either the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
