Obituary for William Robert Dyke

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Robert Dyke (Bill). Born on April 25th, 1943, Bill passed at home on October 22nd, 2022. Bill will be forever missed by his wife Anna and son Charlie and Charlie’s partner Karley. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Charles Robert (Bob) and Ada Suzanne (Barr) Dyke. He leaves behind his sister, Carole (Murray Campbell), his brothers, Edward Dyke, John Dyke (Laurie White), and sister Lorraine Dyke (Stephen Maguire), and Anna's sister Mary Boyes (Lagowski) and brother Bob Lagowski (and accompanying families) plus 7 nephews, 4 great nieces, 3 great nephews, and 2 great, great nieces. Bill was truly a one-of-a-kind personality, rough and tough on the exterior with strong opinions, but when push came to shove he would be by your side every step of the way. Bill loved life and lived it with zest. His enthusiasm was so contagious that Mother dubbed him the “Pied Piper!” Bill was always on the go. Water and snow skiing, wood working, artistic painting, hunting, fishing, and gathering the family together as well as inviting anybody and everybody over for dinner. He created and taught an Outdoor Survival course at SLC, which was also taught at Queen’s by his brother John. He was well liked by the students he taught shop classes to at Napanee High School, evidenced by several visits at his home from students after his retirement. Bill built a number of new homes in the Kingston area as Sweetwood Homes. Bill was full of questions even as a 4 year old and was known by the neighbourhood as “Dyke’s Question Boy.” He was loved by many, and has left many with beautiful memories.
