Obituary for William Charles Norrie

William Charles Norrie, 84, of Bancroft, Ontario, passed away peacefully just after midnight on August 24th, 2022 at Trillium Long Term Care Home in Kingston.
William (Bill) was born on October 24th, 1937 in Toronto to George and Flora Norrie, both native to Scotland. After high school Bill went on to become a Journeyman and continued in the printing business until 1970 when he made the transition to Labatt Brewery, servicing some of downtown Toronto’s most famous entertainment pubs and concert venues, Toronto Blue Jays, University of Toronto, and supporting many of the cultural clubs and events of Toronto.
In 1960, Bill met Barbara Wolf in Toronto. Bill and Barbara were married and went on to have two children, Madeleine and Andrew.
In 1993 he joined his daughter’s wellness retreat business near Bancroft, Ontario, which became and still is a family endeavor, heading the maintenance department, caring for the grounds, trails, and the horses whom he loved very much. Guests and staff alike enjoyed the gregarious Bill and his beloved companion dogs Scottie and Ojo who always trailed behind him.
Bill was predeceased by his brothers George, Doug, John, and sisters Helen and Glady. He is survived by his youngest brother Robert, his daughter Madeleine and Andrew, and his grandchildren Michael, Lucas and Ava.
A Life Celebration honouring William Charles Norrie will be held in Bancroft in October. Date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Toronto Salvation Army in his name, an organization Bill felt strongly about.
