Obituary for William Edward Whitaker
William Edward ( better known as Bill) passed away early morning on Nov 20th surrounded by his daughter and family. He was the loving father of William Robert (deceased) and Pauline Susan .
Grandfather of 5 and great grandfather of 2. He is now reunited with his loving wife May Francis.
He was a loving family man who always did everything he could for his family and friends.
Bill was a steel worker and part of the steelworkers union for 30 years. Prior to that he served his apprenticeship in the shipyards in England as a welder.
Bill had a passion for gardening and sailing. He was an incredible handyman and if he couldn’t find the part he needed to fix it, then he made it himself. Give him a soup can, cutters and a hammer and he could MacGyver anything.
As per his wishes there will be no funeral service. Family and friends will honour him in the spring with a tree planting ceremony.
